About Borgelt & Craig Architects

Borgelt and Craig Architects formed in 1995 as a partnership of two sisters, Julie Borgelt and Deborah Craig. We are a design based practice with a hands-on approach, employing pencil and pen sketches and cardboard models to resolve early design ideas with our clients, before documentation and work on site. Principle architects are directly involved in all stages from initial client contact and concepts, to administration during on-site construction.

With experience across a range of differing scales and types of building work, including commercial fitouts, interior design, furniture building, mixed-use developments, community and government projects, our core focus is with residential projects.

We craft homes for liveability, encouraging interaction between occupants and the surrounding environment, while minimizing any need for air-conditioning. Our aim is to produce practical, personalised, comfortable and economical designs, with an element of joy, that make a difference to individuals and families.

Borgelt & Craig Architects has a strong focus on resilient, flexible design solutions which recognise the different environmental, cultural and personal influences specific to each project. From design through to construction on site we encourage healthy discussion and interaction with clients and builders. We believe maintaining clear communication, with co-operative and enthusiastic relationships between client, architect and builder is essential for achieving successful built outcomes.
